TVS Racing’s Abdul Waheed Tanveer took a big step towards winning the National title when he beat teammate R Natraj by two minutes and 28 seconds in the third round of the MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Rally Championship for two-wheelers in Velhe, near Pune, on Sunday (May 22) for his third straight victory of the season.
Riding a TVS RTR450, Tanveer took full advantage of the absence of defending champion and teammate Aravind KP (owing to personal reasons) to emerge the best rider as National two-wheeler rallying returned to Pune after a gap of over two decades, according to a press release from the organisers.
Tanveer clocked 57 minutes 44 seconds to complete the challenging 18-km stage that was run thrice. Of the 46 competitors, only 38 completed all three stages. Suhail Ahmed of Ten10 Racing, on a Hero Impulse, took third position overall.
Vishwas SD won the Super Bikes Expert Class on a Yamaha WR250, clocking 1:08.58.
