Akbar Ebrahim re-elected FMSCI president
Chennai, Sept 29: Akbar Ebrahim was re-elected as the president of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, the national governing body for the sport, at its Annual General Meeting held here today.

Ebrahim, representing Meco Motorsport, will be serving a third term of two years, following his stints in 2016-18 and 2020-22. Earlier this year, he was elected president of the FIA International Karting Commission.

Gautam B Shantappa, representing the Karnataka Motor Sports Club, was elected Vice-President.

The fifth and final round of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2022 to be held at the Madras International Circuit, Sriperumbudur, from September 30 to October 2.

India’s top riders and two-wheeler manufacturers are participating in the three-day event. Please find attached the provisional schedule for your kind reference.

The programme in brief is:

· Friday, Sept 30 – Free Practice (from 9:30 am); Qualifying (from 3:25 pm)
· Saturday, Oct 1 – Qualifying (from 9:00 am); Races (from 11:15 am)
· Sunday, Oct 2 – Races (from 9:00 am); Prize Distribution (4:15 pm).

Fairstreet Sports and Dorna Sports Announce the First-ever Motorcycling 'Grand Prix of Bharat'

MotoGP is the world's third most-watched sporting event after the Olympics & FIFA World Cup

19 countries to participate in the premier road racing event to be held at the Buddh International Circuit

'"It is a matter of great pride for Uttar Pradesh to host such a globally prestigious mega sports event. Not only will the event boost the hospitality and tourism sectors, but it will also put UP on the global platform. Our government will provide all the necessary support to make this event a huge success," said Shri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh.

Union Sports Minister Shri Anurag Thakur during the meeting with FSS team opined - "It's a historical day for the sporting and automobile industry and a befitting tribute to the Azadai a Amrit Maha Utsav celebrations, marking India's befitting arrival in the global platform of Auto Sports. He further opined that India could potentially be one of MotoGp's biggest markets in terms of viewership as well as revenue.

"It gives us immense pride that the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has chosen India as the next destination for expanding the global footprint of the MotoGP World Championship. The sport enjoys immense popularity among India's motorcycle racing

Exciting news for India's motorcycle racing circui

Exciting news for India's motorcycle racing circuit. Noida-based sporting activities company Fairstreet Sports Pvt. Ltd, and the international organizer of FIM World Championship Grand Prix (MotoGP) Dora Sports S.L., Madrid-Spain, today announced India's first-ever Moto GP Grand Prix to be held in India in 2023 at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC).

India's maiden edition of the MotoGP World Championship, labelled as 'Grand Prix of Bharat', will bring the world's top motorcycle racers to India in what is expected to provide a significant boost to motorcycle racing in this country.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed for seven years between Fairstreet Sports Pvt Ltd and Dora. The latter is actively working with other state governments to promote motorcycling culture in India and collectively work to promote, nurture and groom international level MotoGP riders in India. As per Industry Experts and economic analysts a significant boost to trade, tourism and employment is expected with an estimated 50K jobs direct and indirect and up to 5K jobs for the race weekend itself. Interestingly - MotoGP also has plans to also introduce MotoE into the Indian racing scenario which will not only be a first in Asia buy a significant green initiative with net zero carbon emissions.

Sarno: FIA Karting press conference on OK-N

Taking advantage of the OK and OK-Junior World Championships, FIA Karting organised a press conference on Saturday morning in Sarno dedicated to the implementation of the OK-N in the national championships. CIK-FIA President Akbar Ebrahim began by outlining the broad outlines of the OK-N category and its objectives. He also mentioned the countries that have decided that OK-N will be fully integrated into national championships from 2023.

Raffaele Giammaria, Head of Karting at the Italian ASN ACI Sport, then gave some information on the introduction of OK-N and OK-N Junior in the Italian Karting Championship and at regional level from next season. He insisted on the importance of the sporting regulations that are being drawn up in his country favouring the opening up to a wider range of participants, focusing on reducing the cost of racing with a format redesigned for this purpose, as well as greater equality of opportunity.

Karl Janda, CIK-FIA technical delegate, concluded by outlining some of the specificities of the OK-N engine compared to the OK from which it originates. Some journalists were able to ask the personalities present questions. FIA Karting plans to issue a press release in the near future to give an update on OK-N for the 2023 season.
