Stage set for 2W MRF Rally of Coimbatore

All eyes will be on Coimbatore

this weekend when the fourth round of the MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Rally Championship for two-wheelers takes place in the motorsport-loving city. The MRF Rally of Coimbatore, promoted by Godspeed (Pune) and organised by Coimbatore Auto Sports Club (CASC), will be conducted in a mix of dirt and gravel Special Stages.

Coimbatore has a rich motorsport tradition. The CASC have been pioneers in organising top-notch events for over four decades,

thus carving a niche for itself

in Indian motorsport, a press release from the organisers said.

“The club is pleased to host this rally once again,” said Mr J Prithiviraj, Honorary Secretary, CASC. “Event sponsors MRF have contributed tremendously towards the development of motorsport in the country, and the CASC thanks them for their continued support,” he added.

TVS Racing’s Abdul Waheed Tanveer won the opening three rounds to take a big step towards winning the National title. The total distance of the route is approximately 145km with the total distance of the Special Stages approximately 70km. This time around, unlike last year, there will be two Special Stages – the LMW Stage (13.9km) and the Premier Stage (10.95km).

The stages

are set around the windfarms of Kethanur (Palladam) area, and it promises to be a treat to watch. A service Park is established near Kethanur for the competitors to service and refuel their vehicles.

Fifty eight riders have confirmed participation across seven classes that form the National championship – Super Bike (Pro Expert, Group A and Expert), Super Sport 130 Group B, Super Sport 165 Group B, Super Sport 260 Group B, Super Sport 400 Group B, Super Sport 550 Group B and Scooter 210 Group B. . There is also the Star of Tamil Nadu category exclusively for local riders.
