Keen action on cards in third round of National Rotax Karting

Ricky Donison of BPC Racing leads the Senior Max (over 15 years) category with 165 points, having won the first two races, as the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship moves into its third round at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore this weekend.

Ricky Donison - BPC RacingDonison, however, has only a solitary point lead, with Ameya Bafna of Rayo Racing and Vishnu Prasad of Meco Racing sitting second on 164 points each. Dhruv Mohite of Mohites Racing is hot on their heels on 163 points, a press release from the organisers said.

In Junior Max (13 to 16 years), stiff competition is expected between Meco Racing teammates Nirmal Umashankar (166 points) and Paul Francis (163 points), although they are a fair bit behind the current championship leader Manav Sharma of BPC Racing (171 points).

Shahan Ali Mohsin - Meco RacingIn Micro Max (7 to 12 years), Meco Racing again are strong contenders for the title with Shahan Ali Mohsin sitting pretty on 173 points and Arjun Nair second on 162 points. Ruhaan Alva of Peregrine Racing is sandwiched between the two on 169 points.

Sanjay Sharma, head of JK Tyre’s Motorsport division, said he was really excited as the championship enters its crucial mid-stage.

“We have already seen two exciting rounds. I am expecting our future race heroes to go all out as they consolidate their leadership positions. I am particularly looking forward to the Senior Max race as the top three drivers are virtually sitting on the same number of points,” Sharma was quoted as saying in the release.

The qualifying will be held on Saturday and the main rounds on Sunday.
